Well known Sid Turcotte Park in Mattawa has new owners.

As of last Wednesday, it's now owned by Ian and Brooke Foster.

They have travelled by RV over the past several years to over 36 States and all across Canada and hope their experience helps understand the unique challenges, requirements, and service that come with running a park.

"Last year, we visited a couple of times and fell in love with the natural beauty of Sid Turcotte Park. You may have seen us camping down by the beach in the fall," said the Fosters in a Facebook post.

"We do not intend to make any major changes. Our immediate goals for 2017 are to get to know you and Sid Turcotte Park, get to know the local community of Mattawa and to make some amenity improvements. We will start with a new Canadian made playground. Installation will begin as soon as the spring thaw allows.

"Over time, we will also be looking to add more events like potlucks, an outdoor movie theatre for weekend family movies under the stars and possibly a new water trampoline. It is important to us to add amenities and services that will build on our sense of community."

Their eldest daughter Meadow (expecting her first child in March) is an experienced Housekeeping Manager from the David Thompson Resort in Alberta and will be the Resort Manager.

Her husband Andrew, experienced in campground maintenance, will be the Maintenance Manager.

Beginning in May they hope to open up the cottages year round to allow for winter accommodations for snowmobiling, skiing and snowboarding, hunting, ice-fishing or a romantic Valentine's Day getaway.

"Being full-time RVer's we hope that we can bring some of the experience of what works and what doesn't work from all of the campgrounds that we have stayed across Canada and the US to Sid Turcotte Park without taking away from the community that is already here."
