Mattawa crash puts one person in hospital with life threatening injuries

The driver and passenger of the eastbound vehicle suffered only minor injuries

That crash yesterday afternoon on Highway 17, just east of Mattawa resulted in the driver of one of the cars being rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

 A westbound car lost control and collided with an eastbound car causing both vehicles to end up on the shoulder of the eastbound lane.

The driver of the westbound vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital while the driver and passenger of the eastbound car suffered minor injuries.

It happened at approximately 4:28 p.m on Highway 17 in Papineau - Cameron Township between Klocks's Rd and Burritt Rd.

The OPP's Technical Traffic Collision Investigators is assisting with this investigation. 

Highway 17 was closed for the time of the investigation and reopened around 11 p.m.

North Bay OPP officers along with Papineau-Cameron Township Fire Department and the North Bay Ambulance Service responded.
