Managers fired for "irregularities"

On Monday, January 25th the town confirmed public speculation that an independent investigation was being held into accounting irregularities.

The municipality of West Nipissing has fired a pair of managers from its Public Works department over what it calls "accounting irregularities".

According the the town's website  it has "terminated the employment relationship with both managers and has commenced a civil action against a local contractor to recover funds for work not performed".

The news comes in a public notice posting.

On Monday, January 25th the town confirmed public speculation that an independent investigation was being held into accounting irregularities within the Public Works department.

However, "in the spirit of open and transparent government", the municipality decided to post the information to the website.

"As this is both a human resources and legal matter we are not at liberty to disclose more information at this time," the posting concludes.
