Man in custody after theft from hardware store

On February 13th West Nipissing police received a complaint of a theft from a local hardware store.

Police were advised that a male had left the store with power tools without having paid.

The male was last seen running along the railway tracks with items in hand.

Police responded to the complaint and found a suspect in the Railway Street area. The man was in possession of the items and tried to flee from police when confronted.

A 24 year old Sturgeon Falls man was taken into custody and faces charges of theft under $5,000 and breach of probation. This same individual is also linked to the theft from an electronics store where a Bluetooth speaker had been stolen a few days prior.

He faces charges of theft under $5,000 and breach of probation in connection with that matter as well.
