North Bay Police were immediately dispatched to a North Bay residence early Wednesday morning, following a 911 call by a concerned citizen reporting a suspected domestic violence incident.

It is alleged that a verbal dispute between the accused and his female partner in their shared residence shortly before 4 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19th turned violent when he repeatedly punched her.

The police investigation also revealed an historical assault that occurred on April 30th, 2016, when it is alleged, the accused strangled her. It is also alleged that in both cases, the accused prevented the victim from fleeing their shared residence after he assaulted her.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the assaults.

Following an investigation, North Bay Police arrested and charged a 52-year old North Bay man with:

  • Two counts of domestic assault; and
  • Two counts of forcible confinement.

The accused, whose name the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing in the interest of protecting the identity of the victim, was held in custody for a bail hearing.
