The North Bay Fire and Emergency Services have released more information relating to a transport fire that occurred around the supper hour on Main Street West in the parking lot of a local food warehouse in North Bay Sunday night.

Greg Saunders, deputy chief with North Bay Fire and Emergency Services says all three fire stations responded to the transport truck fire at 1490 Main Street at 6:30 p.m.

"Fire crews were on the scene within four minutes," said Saunders in an email to the media.

"Upon arrival, fire crews found a transport truck located behind TCM produce that was fully engulfed in flame. The fire had broken a window and begun to extend into the building.

"Employees on scene had unsuccessfully tried to extinguish the fire with a hose prior to the arrival of firefighting personnel but the fire had spread too quickly."

However, Saunders says firefighters very quickly extinguished the fire in the truck.

"The quick action by fire crews greatly limited the minimal damage caused to the building by the fire," he said.

"The truck will be a write-off, but the building will just require some minor repairs."

The Businesses were TCM Produce and Deals Discount Grocery. Officials told BayToday in an email Sunday night that both will be open on Monday.

Saunders says the cause of the fire is not suspicious.
