The Labour Market Group reports that there were 518 job postings recorded for Nipissing district in the month of November.

"This is a significant decrease of 14.4 per cent from the previous month's figure of 605 postings," says the report.

"This month-over-month drop is likely attributed to a combination of seasonal trending and indications of an upcoming recession."

The November 2022 figure is also significantly below; (25.5%) the November 2021 value of 695 job postings.

"This year-to-year drop further supports a downturn in the local labour market and again possibly a sign of a recession beginning."

More than 250 unique employers posted jobs in November which is notably below the 2021 figure for the same month of 312.

The top job posters were:

  • North Bay Regional Health Centre
  • Canadore College
  • Near North District School Board
  • Ontario Northland
  • Cascades Casino

The top industry postings are for Registered Nurses and Personal Support Workers, a further indication of the troubled healthcare field. That was followed by jobs in the retail trade.

Full-time accounts for 67 per cent of the jobs posted.
