The Royal Bank at the corner of Main and Ferguson is closing its doors July 7 and merging with the RBC on Stockdale Road in the city's north end by Airport Road.

The news came today in a form letter to customers, with a signature from Branch manager Drew Mitchell.

Jeff Serran, Executive Director of the Downtown Improvement Area says the news wasn't unexpected.

“The Downtown Improvement Area met with representatives from RBC prior to their announcement. Though we are saddened by their news, we respect their business decision to streamline their operations and we are encouraged from their verbal support for the heart of the city. We are also confident that their downtown location will be filled within the near future.”
