Local theatre group wins 'Outstanding Production' in Sears Festival

Widdifield Secondary School’s "The Company" performed this past weekend at the Sears Regional District Drama Festival in Cobalt.   

The cast of “Colours in the Storm” received the accolade of "Outstanding Production", advancing them to the Sears Ontario Provincial Showcase in Toronto.  

They will perform at Hart House on the University of Toronto campus, on May 14. 

Only two productions were selected from the weekend festival to advance to the final showcase, the other school attending is from Timmins

The students also took part in valuable workshops and an educational adjudication.

The directors, Jocelyn  Bell-Summersby and Rob McCubbin, are very proud of the dedication and commitment that the cast of the production has put forth to ensure they bring these real characters to life.

The next step for this cast after the Ontario Showcase will be performing in Lincoln Nebraska at the International Thespian Festival June 20 - 25, 2016.  There will be over 3,000 students in attendance from around the world.
