It’s an idea that U-Need-A-Cab had in their back pocket but really did not figure it would be needed in a city the size of North Bay.

Katharine Strang, who runs the cab company with her husband John, believes the timing was right to offer an APP to allow customers to download and book a cab through the new APP.

“We did have an opportunity to have it years ago but we looked at it back then and we did not feel it fit with the niche of our clients but moving forward in these days of Millenials and all of the change we thought it was time to bring one out,” said Strang.

Strang says feedback for the new APP has been good with more than 450 downloads in the first two weeks since the launch.

“It works exactly like our taxis,” she said.

“We don’t offer an actual rideshare piece to it so we are not doing the double pickups but we are offering the same service through an APP booking.

“It shows when the car is going to be available and when it will come to you and it identifies what vehicle is coming to you and how long it will take for them to get to your location. It gives you a chance to book online without using the telephone.”

Strang adds that current customers who download the APP can use their account to pay, otherwise, new clients must use a credit card to pay using the APP.
