Local software firm seeking 20 new employees

“Aptitude and attitude are the two most important factors but if we get these computer science and mathematics degrees from Nipissing applying and they have those two things, I will hire them.”

John Cutsey says his award winning and leading edge computer software technology is creating a huge market demand.

Cutsey, the president of FDM4 which has its North Bay office based on Airport Road, says his company recently was awarded a modernization award that is opening up more business opportunities and now he’s having a tough time keeping up.

“Existing clients want to move to the new generation immediately because it’s so functional, attractive, efficient, easier to use, less than no training to operate it and it can have a really positive effects on the return on their investment, we will say, on productivity and saving money,” stated Cutsey Friday morning.

That demand is good news for North Bay as Cutsey says he needs to fill 20 new jobs here in North Bay.

“That’s the real core of why we are going crazy with the demands of our existing customers and with new business,” he said.

That could open some doors for graduating computer science or mathematics students from Nipissing University or Canadore College.

Cutsey says he has told Nipissing University President Dr. Mike DeGagne that he’d like to bring a limo full of his students to FDM4 so he can sell them on why to apply for a job at the high profile software firm in North Bay.

“I told him I’d bring them all into the board room and I’m going to sell the students on applying for a job with me and that’s what I told him,” said Cutsey.

“He’s [DeGagne] all excited about it, why not? That’s what the university is all about is to educate people to find job replacements right?”

Cutsey says if he can find the 20 new employees to his liking, he will start plans on expanding his building.  However, for the current time, they will use a portable that will be painted in the same FDM4 black of the current building.

“As soon as I do it will also mean probably an extension to my building. I have all the blueprints and everything ready to dig ground, if we get these 20 people we are probably going to extend our building to twice the size, so that’s the intention.”

But the key for Cutsey is finding the right people to help FDM4 continue with its award winning success.

“Aptitude and attitude are the two most important factors but if we get these computer science and mathematics degrees from Nipissing applying and they have those two things, I will hire them.”
