Syl’s Neighbourhood Kitchen hosted a one-year anniversary event on December 18, 2018 and raised just over $7,000.00 for the Alzheimer Society Sudbury-Manitoulin North Bay & Districts. An anonymous donor provided an extremely generous donation of $10,000.00, bringing the grand total for the day $17,008.47.
"To celebrate our first year in business, we decided to continue the tradition of giving back to the community that has supported our family for so many years. Having a personal connection with Alzheimer’s disease & Dementia we are proud to be able to support our local chapter,”said Sylvain Rivet, Owner of Syl’s Neighbourhood Kitchen.
“We donated all sales from the day of our one-year anniversary at Syl's Neighbourhood Kitchen."
Many community members came out for breakfast, lunch and dinner to show their support throughout the day. Customers included those living with dementia and their care partners, who were elated to see a local business not only raising funds but promoting much needed awareness for the disease.
“The Society is grateful for the generous support of Sylvain and Becky Rivet from Syl’s Neighbourhood Kitchen as well as to the customers who supported that day and to the anonymous donor,” says Stephanie Leclair, Executive Director of the Alzheimer Society Sudbury-Manitoulin North Bay & Districts.
“This not only helped raise much needed funds for those in our community living the dementia journey but also created awareness which we hope will encourage people to learn more about the Alzheimer Society and how we can help”.
Funds donated from the sales of the day by Syl’s Neighbourhood Kitchen will remain local and support vital dementia programs and services that help improve the quality of life of those affected.
