North Bay’s Lucas Edmonds has been invited as one of 25 players to Team Sweden's U18 Pre Hlinka Gretzky Cup tourney camp which takes place May 30th to June 3rd in Stockholm, Sweden.

Hlinka Gretzky Cup 2018 will feature the worlds top U18 players in Edmonton this coming August and players who potentially can be drafted in the summer of 2019.

"I feel I can play at that level internationally and I need to prove it at the camp," stated Edmonds, who had a shootout winner for a U17 Swedish team over the Czech Republic at a tournament in Finland in February.

Edmonds finished 2nd overall in goals for all 2001 players playing in Sweden’s top Junior league J20 SuperElit in only 25 games played as well as 3 points in 6 playoff games.

The 2017 Kingston Frontenacs 7th round draft pick who is committed to UMass/Amherst for 2020, is currently in Sweden training with his club team Karlskrona HC and will return to Canada June 5th after the U18 National Team Camp.

Phase two features a four-day camp at the end of July with 25 players in Sweden.

The top 23 players then directly fly to Edmonton to participate in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup.
