Motorists in this area ranked among the worst in the OPP's Northeast Region for wearing seatbelts during a campaign which ran from September 23 to October 9.
North Bay OPP reported today that 26 drivers were charged. That ties us for second worst of 13 OPP detachment clusters in the northeast.
An example of a cluster would be North Bay, Powassan and Mattawa.
"People continue to die on Ontario Highways as a result of the not wearing their seatbelts. The OPP will continue to focus on driving habits that are the primary sources contributing to serious injuries and deaths in motor vehicle collisions," said Provincial Constable Carolyn Ward in a news release.
