Three North Bay men are facing child pornography charges following three separate police investigations.

At the end of March, city police received a tip from Greater Sudbury police officers, after three separate individuals were identified in North Bay during investigations into the sharing of child pornography files on peer-to-peer (or P2P) networks over the Internet.

During the investigations, search warrants were executed at three different addresses in North Bay by members of the North Bay Police Service, with the assistance of the Greater Sudbury Police Service’s Cyber Crime Unit and the OPP Child Exploitation Unit.

On May 1st, North Bay Police charged Jason Paul Dempsey, age 39, with two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of making available child pornography. He was held in custody for a bail hearing at the time.

Yesterday, police also charged Darren Johnathan Katt, age 34, with two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of making available child pornography.

Also charged is James Barry Wilkie, age 48, with two counts of possession of child pornography and one charge of making available child pornography. Both will appear in court today for bail hearings.

Detective Constables Fernando Cirullo and Jason Long are the investigating officers.

In a news release, North Bay Police thanked the Greater Sudbury Police Service’s Cyber Crime Unit, the OPP Child Exploitation Unit, the Meaford Detachment of the OPP and the Meaford Detachment of the Military Police Regiment for their help with these investigations.
