Three local groups are receiving $43,000 through the Ontario Arts Council, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli announced today.

Operating grant:

 $29,000 for Aanmitaagzi through the Community & Multidisciplinary Arts Organizations program toward its 2012-2013 operations. Aanmitaagzi is a multidisciplinary artist-run Aboriginal arts organization founded in 2006 to serve artists and community members from Nipissing First Nation and the surrounding area, nurture traditional Aboriginal arts practices and carry them forward within a contemporary context.

Project grants include:

 $8,000 for the White Water Gallery in North Bay through the Multi-Arts Projects program toward a project entitled A Northern Locality: Surviving North Bay. White Water Gallery, in partnership with Broken City Lab, will engage North Bay’s general public through a series of outdoor art projects and community development activities.

 $6,000 for Brood Records Collective through the Northern Arts program toward its Live at the Opera Fall/Winter 2012-2013 Concert Series and Podcast Project. The project provides a stage for musical artists and records their performances.

“This funding is further proof of the strong dedication in Nipissing to ensuring our unique arts and cultural heritage continues to flourish,” said Fedeli.
