Local dentist dies in plane crash

Plane crash near Goderich. OPP divers began searching Lake Huron yesterday morning.

North Bay oral surgeon, Dr. Edward Grodecki,  and a female flight instructor were killed after a plane crashed into Lake Huron near Goderich Municipal Airport about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday,

Dr. Grodecki, 62, operated North Bay Oral Surgery at 180 Shirreff Ave.

The body was discovered and identified this afternoon.

A second victim also died in the crash.

OPP say 36-year-old Veronica Draghici of Brampton, a Brampton Flight Centre instructor, was found yesterday.

Draghici is a wife and mother. At only 37 years old, she leaves behind a three-year-old son named Lucas.

A GoFundMe campaign was started in the hopes of taking some of the financial pressure off of Veronica’s family by helping to pay for funeral expenses and future support for her son. Canadians have shown their support for this family, helping to raise more than $18,700 in two days.

Witnesses told police the fixed-wing plane appeared “in distress” near the airport on Wednesday night.
