Roger Dupuis will be attending the Canadian National Adult Championships in British Columbia in June.

A dream will come true for a local dart enthusiast when he competes in the Canadian National Adult Championship, in Richmond BC next month.  Roger Dupuis says "it's been my dream, for a few years, to play in the Nodor Cup" a National Darts Federation of Canada sanctioned event.

Dupuis, a Programmer/Analyst at Nipissing University, says it will be an honour to represent North Bay & Northern Ontario in the national competition, where the best players from across Canada go head to head.

For Dupuis, darts are more than just a game. It was the sport itself that he says welcomed him when he moved to this area in 1989. "I didn't know many people, but I always enjoyed sport, so darts welcomed me."  He adds that a mentor made all the difference, saying "Brent Barham, a local man, took me under his wing and taught me the basics and the strategies."

The 58 year old has become so passionate for his sport that he wants to play a role in the next generation of players. "I would like to encourage and help other men and women to take up darts. There are many local leagues that will welcome them with open arms. Heck,I'll even teach people the basics and introduce them to leagues. This will be sort of a payback for what darts has given me."

Dupuis plays in the Gateway Men's League, out of the Elk's Club. He has reserved the City of North Bay flag to take along to the event, and will be showing his skills in Richmond from June 14th to the 17th.
