Local couple charged after police discover marijuana grow-op

A total of 27 marijuana plants along with numerous firearms were seized this week after OPP raided a South Himsworth farm.

On Friday October 2, officers from the North Bay OPP Crime Unit, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, and Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act at a location on Hunt Line, South Himsworth Township.

As a result of the search warrant, police located marijuana on the outdoor property in outbuildings and inside the home.

The street value of the marijuana seized is approximately $27,000.  

Nicholas Giesler, age 29 and Mandy Strang, age 31 of South Himsworth Township, have been charged with the following offences:

  • Production of a Schedule II substance, and
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking

Both accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on November 26.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
