“It seemed lost, cold and hungry, I couldn't leave him out in the cold with temperatures reaching -14."

Cory Marquardt is known more for his fantastic voice, but this weekend it was his heart that took centre stage.

Marquardt says Friday night he saw a cat walking around downtown North Bay after he left GoodLife Fitness gym.

“Leaving the gym I saw this beautiful cat roaming the streets of North Bay,” stated Marquardt.

“It seemed lost, cold and hungry, I couldn't leave him out in the cold with temperatures reaching -14. I decided to follow him behind a building were I got out and called him over with my kitty senses. He came running over meowing as I pet his cold body.”

Marquardt gained the cat’s trust and he put him in his warm truck and took him home in hopes of using social media to find the chilly kitties owner.

“I took him home and posted on my personal Facebook page about this find and for the night I called him ‘Steve,’” he said.

On Saturday the owners of the cat, whose real name is “Tiger,” contacted Cory that it was their cat he found.

“His owners reached out to me letting me know he was accidentally let out by their little girls while letting the family dog outside last night,” said Marquardt.

“I’m so happy to return him to this beautiful family and back home in time for Christmas!! When a four-year-old little girl is smiling ear to ear, jumps up to give you a hug and says ‘Thank you for saving my kitty,’ it's quite an awesome feeling!”
