News release from the 547 Air Cadet 'Canuck' Squadron

The 547 Air Cadet Sqn would like to proudly announce that the 2005-2006 Training Year has been extremely rewarding and would like to share some of the accomplishments with our supporters and the community.

At the OPC Air Cadet Annual Committee conference, the Sqn was presented with the Dudley Roden Trophy for being the most proficient squadron in Northern Ontario

Also during this award ceremony W02 Kyle Hamilton was presented with the Robert Snider Award, presented to the cadet who displays outstanding citizenship.

It was announced at the Air Cadet League National Meeting in Ottawa that the following two 547 Air Cadets would be receiving $300 Pilot Training Achievement Awards. It is to be noted there were 19 such awards given and our sqn received two of them. W02 Amber Blackwell and
F/Sgt David Hunt, power pilots, will receive $300 each.

A new Service Medal has just been issued to cadets that have served four years and over. W02 Kyle Hamilton was fortunate enough to be one of the six cadets who were presented with this medal in early January. These cadets were the first six to receive this medal nationally.
