WATCH: Ford announces enhanced COVID vaccine certificate, app

Province expected a digital system with a QR code to be introduced Oct. 22

Premier Doug Ford announced how Ontario’s digital COVID-19 vaccine certificate and verification app will work this morning.

He was joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health; Kaleed Rasheed, Associate Minister of Digital Government; and Dr. Kieran Moore, Chief Medical Officer of Health.

The Verify Ontario app for businesses to scan the new digital vaccine certificate was launched on the app stores yesterday.

Proof of vaccination to access certain high-risk public indoor spaces has been required since Sept. 22. When the vaccine passport was announced, the province expected a digital system with a QR code to be introduced Oct. 22, which is next Friday.
