LCBO workers give union strike mandate

The Liberal government aims to have beer, wine and cider available in up to 450 grocery stores by 2020

This isn't good news as the summer outdoor party season begins.

LCBO workers voted 93 per cent in favour of striking if their union can't reach a settlement with the liquor and beer outlet.

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) represents 7,500 employees,

There are three LCBO locations in North Bay.

OPSEU president Warren “Smokey” Thomas says he's pleased but not surprised by the vote result.

Employees feel Ontario’s decision to sell alcohol in grocery stores could spell the end of the government-owned alcohol retailer. 

The Liberal government aims to have beer, wine and cider available in up to 450 grocery stores by 2020.
