The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority is shutting down the Laurier Woods Conservation area due to the rising water levels in the area today.

Conservation Authority officials believe that beavers are the cause, blocking a culvert on the ONR line west of Laurier Ave.

Water levels are rising along the main trail making boardwalks and pathways unsafe for use.

The Conservation Area will remain closed for the weekend and will reopen once the culvert is cleared and the water levels return to safe levels.
