Laurentian Ski Hill is ready for re-opening once the provincial government gives the green light to do so.

The facility was forced to suspend operations when the provincial government ordered a pandemic related lockdown last December.

“We’ve heard from supporters, season pass holders, and others who are frustrated and upset”, said Laurentian General Manager Mike King. “We are just as frustrated.”

King says members of Laurentian’s board, and hill management, fully appreciate the need to keep the community safe as the government tries to slow the spread of COVID 19.

Laurentian staff have plans in place for re-opening and are ready to begin grooming runs.

“The snow pack is great, conditions are excellent, the long-range forecast is favourable and we’re ready to go for February 11”, said King.

“We sympathize with our pass holders” said John Strang, President of Board, “it’s terrible to look at the hill without folks enjoying it. I know how much it means to the community.”

The pandemic has certainly impacted the hill but King said, “We really appreciate the ongoing support we receive from the community and I want to thank our season pass holders, our sponsors, our community, our staff, and our volunteers.

“We all continue to work hard on ensuring visitors have an awesome and safe experience here at Laurentian.  We know people are ready to hit the slopes and we look forward to having you”, added King.
