New Fires

Two fires were confirmed on June 27. Cochrane 13, near Fort Severn, is under control at 0.3 hectares. Sault Ste. Marie 4 was 0.1 hectares in size and is already out.

Active Fires

Four lightning fires in the northern portion of Cochrane district continue to be observed - Cochrane fire numbers 3, 4, 5 and 9.

Fire Hazard

The hazard is low to moderate throughout most of the region. Recently, higher relative humidity values have kept fire arrivals to a minimum. The Far North continues to have a high hazard.

Be FireSmart!

The Canada Day long weekend has finally arrived and the Ministry of Natural Resources is urging residents and visitors to exercise caution with campfires and discharging fireworks.

According to the Forest Fires Prevention Act (FFPA), people who set off fireworks must ensure there is no burning residue left.
