Latchford set to host annual Easter Parade

LATCHFORD – The Easter Bunny will be visiting children and spreading holiday cheer in Latchford yet again this year.

The town’s recreation committee is hosting its annual Easter Parade on Sunday, April 4.

“We did one last year, we’re going to do one again this year,” said recreation committee chair Sharon Gadoury-East.

“People will decorate their vehicles and we will do the streets of Latchford,” she explained in a telephone interview.

“We did it last year, it went over very well so we figured it’ll be good for this year again.”

The parade will begin at 1 p.m. starting at the town office before proceeding down every street in Latchford to reach as many residents as possible.

Gadoury-East also noted that the Latchford Volunteer Fire Department will be participating in the parade once again with their fleet of emergency vehicles.

“They participated with us last year, so they’ll probably put in their full fire trucks and their ambulance, or their first response vehicle,” she said.

“People will come with their four-wheelers and their vehicles and then we’ll dress them up for Easter.”

Gadoury-East said Councillor Francine Blowe has been “elected” to dress up as the Easter Bunny for this year’s parade.

“We gave her the choice to elect herself or we were going to elect her,” she laughed. “She already knew.”

“We’re also going to put out a poster on (the town’s) Facebook (page) again, so if they wanted to message through there, they could,” said Gadoury-East.

“We’re also going to have flyers put out in the town, so it’ll be out there for people to participate.”

She added that the rec committee is expecting the parade to start proceeding right at 1 p.m. on April 4, so they are asking those who are intending to participate to arrive at the town office by 12:30 p.m. that day.

“It ends up being close to, at least, a two-hour ride once you hit every street in town,” she said of the Easter Parade.

Gadoury-East also said that the recreation committee is also expecting to host a Canada Day Parade again this year.
