David Lang held off the competition to win by one shot in the annual Bill Morland Invitational which took place at the North Bay Golf and Country Club on the weekend.

The Keswick, Ontario product finished with a two-day score of 143, winning by one shot over North Bay's Ricky Allen and Chad Swartzentruber who both finished one shot behind at 144.

Lang was able to pull away from his competition with an eagle on the par-five 17th hole en route to the victory.

"As for my playing partner Ricky Allen, you are one tough competitor to get away from, and you kept pushing me," said Lang during his championship speech.

It was a different feeling at the Bill Morland Invitational.  That's because Bill Morland,  the golf icon who the trophy was named after, passed away at the age of 90 back in early May.

That led to many heavy hearts at this year's event.

"It is a tough one without Mr. Morland here and I am sure he would have been here to thank everyone for a great weekend of golf," Lang said.
