The second phase of the $7 million Lakeshore Drive overpass deck replacement and substructure rehabilitation project will begin January 2, weather permitting.
The final phase of the project includes a complete deck replacement.
"To minimize disruption to motorists, this phase of the project is broken down into two stages – the west side of the bridge will be completed first, followed by the east side of the bridge. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction for the duration of construction." says a city news release.
Drivers should plan for significant traffic delays, consider alternate routes, adjust work hours, and provide extra travel time.
It is expected that this construction will result in increased congestion, especially during the morning and evening rush hour.
