The Nipissing Lakers Varsity Men’s Basketball team held it’s final practice on home court today at Canadore College as they prepare to head to Valencia, Spain from August 10-19 for a pre-season training camp and competition.

This will be the program's first international trip since its inaugural 2014-2015 season.

Head Coach Chris Cheng feels confident that this trip and experience will be a big boost to the program.

"Travelling internationally is an area we want to add and experience every 2-3 years moving forward," said Cheng.

"This trip will enhance our summer training and competition experience. We feel this opportunity will best prepare us for the upcoming season."

The team will train in Valencia Professional Basketball Club training facility, and compete against professional and semi-professional teams in the surrounding areas. Lakers Men's Basketball has teamed up with Europrobasketball International Academy who has provided their services and resources throughout their stay.

The team will train 3 hours a day, compete in 3-4 exhibition games, connect with the community through the Academy's outreach program, and experience the Valencia culture through several team excursions. Not only will this experience prepare them for the season, it provides a phenomenal team bonding and program building opportunity.
