Lakers announce sports award winners virtually

With no large banquets to be allowed in the near future, Nipissing University elected to announce the winners of its sports awards online this past week. 

In women’s hockey, rookies of the year are Malory Dominico and Maggie McKee.

Ava Keis is the Lakers Pride award winner and MVP honours go to Maria Dominico and Brianna Gaffney.

In men’s hockey, rookie of the year honours go to Jacob Collins and Jacob Hickey.

Lucas Brown won the Lakers Pride award while MVP is Deverick Ottereyes.

Danny Lukusa has won the Men's Basketball rookie of the year honours while Shandon Ashitei got the Lakers Pride award. 

The Men's Basketball MVP's are Quintin Ashitei and Justin Shaver.  

In Women's Basketball, Megan McCarter was named the rookie of the year, while Kylea Gapeau-Wilson got the Lakers Pride award. 

The Lakers MVP this season was Natalie Martinez.  

Bo Peltier is the men’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Year, Andrew Wood is the Laker Pride award winner and MVP is Tanner Poole.

In Men's Volleyball, Jason Young was named the Rookie of the Year.  The Lakers Pride award was shared between Eric Ellison and Patrick Hebert while MVP is Jeremie Murray. 

In Women's Volleyball, Elizabeth Junger was named the top rookie, while Shaelyn Francis wins the Lakers Pride award.  Shayla Kessler was named the MVP. 

In Men's Soccer, Austin Munroe was named the Rookie of the Year.  Tyrell Chambers gets the Lakers Pride award and Cody Vaillancourt and Jack Collins shar the MVP honours.  

In Women's Soccer, Simone Branch and Ashley Mlinaric were co-winners of the Rookie of the Year title.  Jess Moran got the Lakers Pride Award while Mykaela Volpe and Sarah Matesic shared MVP honours.
