Knife seized, assault charge laid

Shortly before midnight last night a North Bay police officer was patrolling Main Street in when he was stopped by a man who was complaining of an assault.

He told the officer that another man had come to a Main Street apartment to retrieve some property for a friend.

A dispute ensued as one occupant of the apartment discovered he was missing a set of keys. This adult male victim followed the visitor into the lobby of the complex asking for his keys and was pushed by the visitor.

Another adult male from the apartment came to the lobby and was punched by the visitor who then revealed a knife and threatened to stab the two men. The dispute moved onto the street where police happened upon the scene.

As a result of the investigation police have arrested and charged Raymond Prudhomme, 41, of Powassan with:

  • Two counts of assault with a weapon;
  • Two counts of Assault;
  • Theft under $5,000; and
  • Breach of Probation.

Both victims injuries were non-life-threatening.

The visitor was arrested and the police seized a knife and a set of keys.

Prudhomme has been held in custody pending a Bail Hearing.
