City police are investigating a pair of domestic assaults leading to criminal charges, one in which a pot was used as a weapon in an assault.

Shortly before 9 p.m. yesterday a woman returned to her Cassells Street home and found her boyfriend sleeping there.

When she woke him up he assaulted her.

She convinced him to leave but he returned a short time later and attacked her, this time using a kitchen pot as a weapon. The victim called the police but when they arrived the man had already fled. The woman did not require medical attention.

Police found and arrested the 28 year old from North Bay a short distance away.

He has been charged with;

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Two counts of Assault

He was released and will appear in the North Bay Courthouse on August 28 to answer to the charges.

Meanwhile in a separate incident yesterday morning a man went to his former partner’s home on Algonquin Ave. where he forced his way in.

Police say he assaulted the woman and then refused to leave. She called 911 but when police arrived her attacker had fled.

She told police she had been the victim of a previous attack by the same man.

The victim did not require medical attention.

The 25-year-old man from North Bay later turned himself in at police headquarters where he was arrested and charged with:

  • Break, Enter and Assault;
  • Assault

He was released from custody and will appear in the North Bay Courthouse on August 28 to answer to the charges.

In both cases, police say to protect the identity of the victim, they will not be releasing the names of the accused.
