King Street resident defends property, detains prowler

A North Bay man says he was bitten by an intruder on his property and had to pay an early-morning visit to the hospital for shots as a result

A North Bay man says he was bitten by an intruder on his property and had to pay an early-morning visit to the hospital for shots as a result. After confronting the man in his yard, police confirm he physically contained the prowler until officers arrived at his King Street West property.

The North Bay Police Service reports responding to a 9-1-1 call about a break and enter in progress shortly after 2 a.m. today. Police say the man entered onto a residential property in the 300 block of King Street West in North Bay. According to police, the accused entered a locked shed on the property, however, the homeowner became aware someone was in his shed and confronted the accused while another resident called the police. 

Police say a search of the accused resulted in the seizure of break-in tools and a small amount of suspected crystal methamphetamine.

NBPS says the investigation has resulted in the arrest of Micheal Walton, 29, of North Bay who is charged with:

  • Trespass by Night
  • Break and Enter with Intent
  • Assault
  • Possession of Break-In Tools
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance

The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
