OPP now say that the discovery of four bodies near Burk's Falls appears to be a triple homicide/suicide.

On Friday evening at approximately 7:30 members of the OPP Almaguin Highlands Detachment responded to a 911 call for help on Starratt Road in Ryerson Township just west of Burk's Falls.

They found four adults at the scene; two men and two women. All were dead with obvious signs of trauma.

The three homicide victims, two women, and one man were all members of the same family and lived in the house where the crime took place. Their cause of death is pending post mortem examinations.

The fourth dead person at the scene is an adult man not related to the victims. Police said they believe the man killed two women and another man before killing himself

Firearms have been recovered from the scene.

Det.-Insp. Martin Graham said somebody stopped by the home on Friday evening and found "the tragic scene."

"The fourth deceased in the residence is not related by blood to the three victims of the homicide, but is also a resident of Ryerson Township," he said.

Police wouldn't say whether any of the deceased appeared to have been shot.

This criminal investigation is ongoing with members of the OPP North East Region (NER) Crime Prevention and Criminal Investigations Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), NER Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP Canine Unit, under the direction of Detective Inspector Martin Graham, of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
