The latest report from the Labour Market Group paints a grim picture in Nipissing and Parry Sound.

There were 356 job postings recorded for Nipissing district in the month of July.

"This was a notable decrease," says the report released today. Job postings were down by 48, or almost 12 per cent from the previous month's figure of 404 postings.

"This figure shows not just a return from last month's large bump up, but is also pointing toward a rocky recovery as this total is significantly below; (21%)  the 5-year July average of 450 postings."

It points out that 167 unique employers posted jobs in July, "a notable decrease."

The number was down 36, almost 18%; from the previous month and 15% down from the five-year July average.

The top employer postings were Miller Technology, Ontario Public Service, and Canada Post.

"Accommodation and food services" was the top hiring industry with 17.4% of postings with food service workers and counter attendants in greatest demand.

In the Parry Sound District there were 118 job postings recorded in the month of July.

"This figure is notably below; (8.5%) the previous month's total of 129 postings. Despite signs of the local labour market maintaining month-over-month momentum the July 2021 total was still significantly below the current five-year July average of 141 postings.
