Jailed North Bay man charged with second-degree murder

A 30-year-old North Bay man already in jail has been charged with second-degree murder.
A 30-year-old North Bay man already in jail has been charged with second-degree murder.

Simon Claude Cohen was charged by the Ontario Provincial Police in connection with the death of Huntsville resident Bernie Cooper, who have was found in his apartment May 6, 2004.

Cooper, 66 at teh time, had been stabbed to death.

Police laid charges against Cohen following an extensive investigation by members of the Huntsville OPP and the Muskoka OPP Crime Unit under the direction of OPP
Detective Inspector Jeff Wilkinson, Criminal Investigation Branch.

Cohen, a former Huntsville resident, had already been charged with attempted murder by the North Bay Police Service in relation to the Sept. 9, 2004, stabbing of a cyclist on the bike path near Gertrude Street.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Bracebridge
on March 30, 2005.
