North Bay's Dave Innes will be coming home with Invictus Games silver.

The North Bay native took second place in the one minute rowing event.

"I have trained my ass off, made sacrifices and it is showing and will continue to show this week," Innes said on his Facebook page today.

"May the broken, may the tormented and may the dead rest easy knowing I am representing the way they should be represented."

The games began in Sydney, Australia on Saturday.

Innes was one of 40 athletes chosen to represent Canada.

And Innes' medal count may grow too.

He will also be competing in wheelchair basketball and powerlifting at the Invictus Games. The powerlifting event takes place on Wednesday.

The Sydney Games are attracting more than 500 competitors from 18 nations to compete in 11 adaptive sports in total.
