Impaired driver also charged with breaking COVID rules

A North Bay man faces numerous liquor-related charges, and one for breaking COVID guidelines, after a complaint led to his vehicle being pulled over by police in Latchford.

On May 14, shortly after 7 p.m., Temiskaming OPP responded to a call about a traffic complaint regarding a motorist on Highway 11 headed northbound from North Bay. 

Officers stopped the driver on Highway 11 in Latchford.  

Further investigation revealed that the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages and was arrested and taken to the Temiskaming Detachment for further testing.

A search yielded a suspected controlled substance.

Jean-Guy Lanteigne, 42, of North Bay, is charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol 
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), 
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available, 
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor,
  • Novice driver - B.A.C. above zero,
  • Individual - fail to comply with an order made during a declared emergency - Enforcement of Covid 19 measures

Lanteigne was released by way of an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 1 in Temiskaming Shores.
