Impaired ATV driver charged in Bonfield accident

North Bay OPP has charged a Bonfield man after an ATV accident Saturday afternoon.

Police were called September 14, to investigate a single-vehicle accident in Bonfield.

Officers found that both the driver and passenger sustained non-life threatening injuries. 

The driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device which resulted in a fail. Both riders were brought to hospital where police conducted further testing on the driver.   

As a result Brad Rancourt, 26, of Bonfield Township, was charged with:

  • Operation causing bodily harm 
  • Operation while impaired - Blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.  

Rancourt was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court on October 1.  

He was issued a 90-day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.  

These charges mark 41 drivers charged under Criminal Impaired Driving Laws in the North Bay Detachment area in 2019.
