Imitation handgun used in robbery

They say a man entered a business and showed a handgun to the victim while demanding money from the cash register

Police say an imitation handgun was used Saturday in a robbery attempt at an Algonquin Ave. business.

It happened shortly before 5:30 a.m. and police have not released the name of the store.

They say a man entered a business and showed a handgun to the victim while demanding money from the cash register.

The victim grabbed the firearm out of the hands of the man and chased him out of the store. A struggle ensued and the victim received a minor injury requiring medical attention.

Police recovered the imitation handgun at the scene.

The man fled on foot toward the Highway 17 bypass.

The robber is described as:

  • a white male of medium height.
  • wearing a dark camouflage jacket
  • a red bandana covering his face
  • blue jeans and dark coloured shoes with a white brand on them.
