Ill-timed threat: morning police report

A 41-year-old North Bay man who threatened a woman with death in front of a police officer has been arrested and charged.

The incident took place Sunday, when a woman and a man she knows went to North Bay Police headquarters in regards to the man not wanting to get out of the vehicle.

Constables Peter Brunette and Shawn Devine were talking to the woman when allegedly the man threatened her with death. He was immediately arrested.

Dean DUQUETTE, of Princess Street E, is charged with threatening
death and breach of probation. He remains in custody for a bail hearing.

STOLEN ATV RECOVERED
On Oct. 27 Cst. Vince Corrente of the North Bay Police Service,
acting on a tip from the owner, located a previously reported stolen ATV.

The officer conducted his investigation and arrested the individual who was
allegedly in possession of the item.

Jeffrey HILL, 37 of Rodney Drive, in North Bay, is charged with
possession of property obtained by crime. He is to attend court on Dec. 6.

THEFT OF AUTO
On Oct. 29, constables Randy Adair and Scott Buchanan of the North Bay
Police Service stopped a motor vehicle shortly after 1 AM. The
officers charged the driver with various criminal code offences.

Kent Mark LEATHERDALE, 18, of Blair Street, is charged with care and
control and driving with over 80 milligrams of alcohol, and theft under $5,000 in regards to the vehicle. He is to attend court on Dec. 20.


TWO YOUTHS FOR BREAK AND ENTER
On Oct. 29 at approximately 8:30 PM Cst. Fernando Cirullo and Merv
Shantz of the North Bay Police Service arrested two 15-year-old male youths
who had just broken into St. Joseph/Scollard Hall secondary school.

They had stolen plaques that were recovered. Both were charged with break and enter and theft and are to appear in court Dec. 6 and 7.

ONE FOR BREAK AND ENTER
On Oct. 29, Cst. Fernando Cirullo of the North Bay Police Service
arrested a man in relation to an alleged break, enter and theft that had occurred on May 21 at Mr. Submarine on Main Street.

David Andrew MUNROE, 19, years of Ostlar Park Drive, in Parry Sound, is
charged with break, enter and theft as well as theft under $5000 in relation
to alleged previous thefts in the same establishment.

He is to attend court on Dec. 6.

ONE FOR STOLEN VEHICLE
On Oct. 29, constables Richard Hampel and Daniel Shepstone of the North
Bay Police Service arrested a male shortly before 9 AM.

This was in relation to a stolen vehicle that the individual was allegedly driving.

Adam MARTIN, 20, of Lakeshore Drive, is charged with possession of
stolen property and breach of probation. He was kept in custody for a bail
hearing.

BREAK AND ENTER AND THREATENING
On Oct. 29 during the early evening hours it is alleged that a man
unlawfully entered a residence and threatened a female with a knife. This
female was known to him.

Constables Vince Corrente and Mark Ethier of the North Bay Police Service
commenced their investigation into the matter and arrested a male in
relation to these incidents.

William Geoffrey MILNE, 56, of Beattie Street, is charged with
threatening, unlawfully being in a dwelling house and two counts of breach of
probation.

ANGRY WOMAN
On Oct. 30 during the evening hours, a woman allegedly attended a
local motel and began causing a disturbance.

Constables Steve Taylor and Barry MacIntosh of the North Bay Police Service were called and attended.

During this period of time the female was allegedly requested to leave and when she did so, she allegedly punched a male several times. She was immediately arrested.

Lee-Anne St. PIERRE, 20, of Village Road, in Astorville, is charged
with assault, obstructing police and two counts of breach of recognizance.

She was kept in custody for a bail hearing.

QUICK-THINKING PASSERS-BY
On Oct. 30 during the evening hours, two passers-by saw a piece of
carpet on fire that was leaning against the former CN building on Second Avenue.
.
They immediately pulled the carpet away, extinguished the fire and contacted
police.

Cst. Mark Ethier attended the scene and commenced his investigation. This culminated in an arrest about an hour later.

A 14-year-old male youth is charged with arson, and break and enter and theft in St. Joseph/Scollard Hall secondary school on the day before.

The youth is to attend court Dec. 7.

STOLEN VEHICLES
Overnight on Oct. 29, thieves stole a 2005 Kia Spectra near the
Sands Hotel on McIntyre Street. This vehicle is further described as black, with a Quebec licence, # 640 NWQ.

Also overnight on Oct. 28, thieves stole a 2002 Saturn vehicle from
the driveway of a home in the 100 block of High Street, in Callander.

This vehicle is further described as grey in colour with Ont. licence # AKCF
805.

BREAK AND ENTERS
Overnight on Oct. 29 thieves smashed a window to gain access to
Putters Green on Oak Street E. They stole several bottles of beer.

Between Oct. 21 and 30, thieves forced their way into the Village Chip Stand and Variety on Lakeshore Drive. Once inside they stole cash.

MAN IN HOME
On Oct. 29 shortly after 4 PM, a man heard a noise within his home
in the 900 block of Morin Street.

He investigated and found nothing. As he was outside for a cigarette he then heard a door close from within the house. He re-entered and found a man standing in his porch. This man stated that he was looking for someone and asked to use the phone. When the man left, the homeowner noticed that his wallet was missing.

The wallet contained credit cards, lottery tickets, cash and personal
information.

The thief is described as male white, late teens to early 20s, 5'10, thin
and wearing a dark coat with a grey hood underneath and had a packsack.
