There is still a bit of ice on Lake Nipissing, but it's clear enough for small boats and canoes to get the season started.
BayToday reader Mark Wolf took this shot Monday evening when he took his boat out for it's maiden voyage for 2016.
"I almost felt like Leo, but my boat is way too small to be the Titanic.. Oh, and that's not an iceberg, just a small island off of Sunset Point with the remnants that were pushed up onto the island by the flowing lake ice."
Walleye season opens Saturday May 21st.
- Only walleye 46 cm in length or longer may be kept
- Bass season now opens the 3rd Saturday of June, one week earlier than in previous years
