Walter Brock of Parry Sound lost his home to an electrical fire last year, but his luck has changed big time this year.

Brock won the $1 million prize in the October 3, Lotto 6/49 draw.

“I play Lotto 6/49 occasionally,” said Brock, a 66-year old retired welder, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. “I won $20,000 with some friends on an Instant ticket a few years ago too!”

He scanned his ticket on the Ticket Checker and initially thought he had won $1,000.

“I brought it to the retailer and just about fell over when he told me how much I really won!” he laughed.

Because he lost his home to fire last year, he plans on using some of his windfall to rebuild his house.

“I’ll also share with friends and plan on starting up a chip and chili wagon,” he smiled.

The winning ticket was purchased at Hillcrest Grocery on William Street in Parry Sound.
