Mattawa is looking for community feedback to help guide the redevelopment of the former Algonquin Nursing Home into an independent senior housing initiative.

It’s hoped the project will create room in the rental or housing sector at a time when there are very few options available.

To that end, a housing needs survey is underway with an Oct. 30 deadline.

The information gathered will help Mattawa’s new Seniors Affordable Housing Project Committee and Descon Construction Ltd., commissioned for the project, to design facility programming to include items such as number of suites, building layout, amenities, and rental rates.

It is anticipated that the renovations will begin during the winter of with occupancy scheduled for the summer of 2021.

A community notice about the survey states it will take about 10 minutes to fill out the survey. Answers will remain anonymous and strictly confidential. The surveys will be destroyed once information is tabulated and responses included in aggregate form within the report.

There is a section, however, to leave contact information in case the participant wants to be kept up to date on the progress of the project or interested in renting a space in the new building.

Surveys can be completed online or dropped off at the Mattawa Municipal Office, ScotiaBank, or Caisse Alliance.

Follow this link to the survey online.

The survey is also available online through Survey Monkey.
