Hong Kong inspired Memory Match game of North Bay raises funds for the Y

'We wanted to help the Y because of the great memories we have from our time at Camp Tillicum'

A Memory Match Game created by Sira and Kate Cotter, twin 13-year old girls, has raised  $2,700 for the North Bay YMCA.

The girls got inspiration from a game they played with images from Hong Kong.

Sira and Kate were planning to do a charity fundraiser and when they saw the YMCA was raising funds for My Y is Resilient. They thought the game would help support tourism in North Bay.

“We wanted to help the Y because of the great memories we have from our time at Camp Tillicum. We can't wait to get back to Canada next summer to take the leadership course so that we can be leaders at future Y camps.” said Kate.

“The Y is a really important part of our community. We were worried that the Y wouldn't be there for other children and thought that we should help. Making the game was fun and we got to meet so many wonderful people who helped us to make and sell the game.” said Sira.

The games were printed by See More Graphics.  Games were sold for $20.

“After being approached by Kate and Sira Cotter for help with the memory match game, we wanted to help in any way we could," said Marc Daigle. "See More Graphics helped the project by designing and producing the game for the two young ladies and we’re glad to do our part in order to make the game as big of a success as it was.”

“Their initiative embraces the values of the YMCA and demonstrates that both our YMCA and our community are in good hands with leaders like them,”said Helen Francis, President, YMCA of Northeastern Ontario.
