It appears that the new tenant for the old Target/Zellers building on Algonquin Avenue has finally been revealed.

A giant sign in the strip mall parking lot indicates that Homesense will be opening soon. The large sign on the Northeast side of the parking lot also indicates they are hiring and those interested can visit www.thisisushomesense.ca

Homesense is operated by TJX Canada which also operates Winners and Marshall furniture stores.

BayToday.ca put in a call to the marketing department for more details on the new business, but the call was not returned by our publication deadline.

Homesense is described as a home fashion discount store.

“We sell a unique selection of home fashions from around the world, including top brands, specialty merchandise and artisan creations, generally sold at prices 20%-60% less than comparable product,” the Homesense website states.

“Some of our merchandise is manufactured for us and some is designed by our own style experts, particularly when what we are seeing in the marketplace isn’t the right value for our customers, meaning the right combination of fashion, brand, quality and price.”

The building has been under renovation since early in the new year in preparation for the new business.

The former department store has been vacant for more than 3 years when Target closed its doors for good in North Bay and across Canada in April of 2015.
