Thieves are usually quick to flee the scene, but this time homeowners returned to find a man sitting in their garage drinking a beer.

OPP say the incident happened in Seguin Twp, just south of Parry Sound on July 30.

"At approximately 7:30 a.m., the owners of a residence on Rose Point Road in Seguin Township returned home to find a person sitting in their garage drinking a beer. The owners also noted that the person had been inside the residence as the interior was disturbed," says an OPP release.

After conducting an investigation: OPP arrested and charged Shane Sauder, 34, of no current address, with:

  • Break and enter a dwelling house - commit an indictable offence
  • Unlawfully in a dwelling house
  • Mischief - interfere with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property - under $5,000
  • Theft under $5,000

Sauder is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing in Parry Sound on August 5.
