The North Bay Heritage Festival and Airshow wants to snag a big-name act for the 2004 edition by spending $150,000 more on entertainment acts than it did last year.

Festival chairman Douglas Herbrand and finance chairman Anthony Koziol appeared at the committee meeting of council Monday night offering three options for the 2004 budget.

Option 3 proposes the festival spend $480,000 on entertainment, with the emphasis on top echelon act.

It will also see wristbands sold in three price ranges: $20 until the May long-weekend, $25 from that point on until opening day, and $30 at the gate.

The Community Services Committee approved Option 3, but not before Herbrand and Koziol were grilled for about an hour by councilors and Mayor Vic Fedeli.

A deposit has been made for a marquee entertainer, although no names were revealed. That information will likely be released within a month.
