Heavy rain expected this afternoon

Expect significant rainfall this afternoon.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for:

  • North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa
  • West Nipissing - French River
  • Temiskaming Shores - Temagami

Total rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm are expected, continuing into this afternoon.

A low pressure system is tracking northeast across the region. Rain associated with this system is expected to end this afternoon.

In addition, if you are driving south there is a rainfall warning in effect for:

  • Huntsville - Baysville
  • Town of Parry Sound - Rosseau - Killbear Park
  • Bracebridge - Gravenhurst
  • Port Carling - Port Severn

Showers and isolated thunderstorms will move across the region as a cold front approaches from the west.

Rain, at times heavy, is expected with total rainfall amounts of 50 to 60 mm.

Locally higher amounts are also possible in areas that receive thunderstorms.

It will end this afternoon for areas near Lake Huron and late this evening or overnight for areas east of Georgian Bay.
